Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE
The Mechanical Technician – Operations & Maintenance will be responsible
for round-the-clock operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting
of mechanical systems and equipment at the plant. The role supports
continuous 24×7 operations by ensuring equipment reliability, safe working
conditions, and timely response to mechanical breakdowns to minimize
downtime and maintain plant performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate, monitor, and maintain mechanical equipment during assigned shifts
to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
• Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of pumps,
compressors, gearboxes, valves, piping systems, heat exchangers, rotating and
static equipment.
• Identify mechanical faults, conduct root-level troubleshooting, and carry out
repairs or replacements to minimize downtime.
• Respond promptly to mechanical failures and emergency situations during
shifts.
• Execute shift handover and takeover activities, including review of logbooks,
equipment status, and pending maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations,
mechanical safety standards, and shift operating procedures.
• Carry out isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work procedures in
coordination with operations and safety teams.
• Monitor equipment performance parameters such as vibration, temperature,
pressure, and lubrication condition, and report abnormalities.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance records, breakdown reports, and
inspection checklists.
• Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams during shift
activities and maintenance interventions.

• Support planned shutdowns, overhauls, statutory inspections, and
commissioning activities.
• Ensure proper housekeeping and safe storage of mechanical tools,
spares, and consumables.

 

Desired Profile / Criteria / Skills :

DESIRED QUALIFICATION
• Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical
qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical operations and
maintenance within 24×7 industrial, plant, or utility environments.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of rotating and static equipment
maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment manuals,
and maintenance procedures.
• Sound understanding of mechanical safety practices, HSE
compliance, and emergency response.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts, night shifts, and emergency
call-outs.
• Ability to work independently during shifts with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills for effective shift handover and
coordination.
