Job Title: Assistant Manager – Quality Assurance (Pet Food)

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager – Quality Assurance will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with food safety standards, supporting new product commercialization, managing documentation, and coordinating with R&D, manufacturing, and third-party manufacturers to ensure consistent product quality and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) across manufacturing operations.
2. Prepare, review, and control quality-related documentation, including SOPs, specifications, work instructions, formats, and records.
3. Develop and implement SOPs for manufacturing processes and coordinate quality activities with third-party manufacturing partners.
4. Plan and conduct internal quality audits and supplier audits for pet food manufacturing facilities and ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
5. Prepare and maintain HACCP plans, conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments, and implement preventive controls throughout the manufacturing process.
6. Ensure compliance with food safety and quality management standards, including, ISO 9001 , ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, GMP, HACCP, AAFCO, FEDIAF, Regulatory requirements applicable to pet food.
7. Possess a strong understanding of laboratory testing, including Proximate analysis, Mycotoxin analysis, Microbiological testing, Shelf-life studies Contaminant testing, Product validation
8. Prepare and maintain raw material, packaging material, semi-finished, and finished product specifications in collaboration with the R&D team.
9. Work closely with R&D to support new product development and commercialization by preparing all quality-related documentation required for commercial production.
10. Prepare, review, and implement manufacturing documentation, including:
• Batch Manufacturing Record (BMR)
• Batch Packing Record (BPR)
• Master Formula Record (MFR)
• Product specifications
• Quality control plans
11. Ensure smooth implementation of quality documentation and manufacturing procedures at commercial production plants.

12. Coordinate with production, procurement, warehouse, R&D, and third-party manufacturers to resolve quality issues and ensure continuous improvement.
13. Handle customer complaints, non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), CAPA, deviations, and change control.
14. Monitor in-process quality checks and finished product release in accordance with established quality standards.
15. Support regulatory inspections, customer audits, and certification audits by maintaining audit readiness at all times.
16. Maintain complete traceability of raw materials and finished products and ensure accurate documentation and record retention.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in food technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in Quality Assurance within the pet food, food, animal nutrition industry or FMCG
• Experience working with third-party manufacturing facilities is preferred.
