Job Description:
The Advanced Lead Engineer is an individual contributor 'hardware owning' engineer reporting to an Engineering Manager within the Aerospace Engineering Division's Production Technologies team. As a hardware owner you will own all engineering functions related to the production of assigned Commercial and Aero-derivative components in the Combustors and Structures commodities.
In this role, you will be on the front lines of a new organization that is dedicated to improving the producibility, enhancing the Engineering-Supply chain relationship, and using SQDC to dramatically improve the health of the supply chain and product to enable the business to fulfil our customers' expectations.
Examples of specific tasks you will be responsible for are: producibility design changes, on-going manufacturing support, and strategic improvements across Castings, Forgings, Machining, and Coatings for the assigned commodity.
You will also be responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Essential Responsibilities:
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Qualifications/Requirements:
PhD/ MTech/ MS/ BTech in Mechanical/ Aerospace/ Structural Engineering or equivalent
6+ years of relevant experience in relevant engineering role.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects.
Desired Characteristics
- Previous experience in manufacturing, especially of Aerospace components.

- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Effective project management skills
- Exposure to Aircraft engines or Gas turbine product knowledge
- Ability to build macros/ automation within work area
- Ability to start problem solving from first principles, hand calculation.
- Awareness of Lean/Six-sigma methodologies
- Previous experience in design of aviation components.
- Certification in ASME Y14 or practical experience with GD&T.
