Job Description:

The following is a general job description for a Documentation Audit Engineer or Quality Control
(QC) Documentation Auditor specializing in Transmission Tower Fabrication.

Documentation Audit Engineer / QC Documentation Auditor (Transmission Tower Fabrication)
Job Summary
The Documentation Audit Engineer is responsible for independently planning, executing, and
reporting on audits of the quality control and project documentation generated during the
fabrication of steel lattice transmission towers and related structures. The primary goal is to ensure
all quality records, test reports, material traceability records, and project documentation strictly
comply with client specifications, national/international codes (e.g., AISC, AWS, relevant ISO
standards), and internal Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation Audit and Compliance
 Plan and conduct internal and external documentation audits of the fabrication shop,
focusing specifically on Quality Control (QC) records, material traceability, and final
document packages (Quality Dossiers/As-Built documentation).
 Review and verify the integrity and completeness of quality documentation throughout
the fabrication lifecycle, including:
o Material Certificates (Mill Test Certificates) to ensure they match project
specifications and maintain traceability to the final tower members.
o Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR),
and Welder Qualifications to confirm compliance with applicable codes (e.g., AWS
D1.1).
o Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) implementation records, including hold/witness
point sign-offs.
o Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) reports (e.g., Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic) and
personnel qualifications.
o Dimensional inspection reports for tower members.
o Surface preparation and galvanizing/coating reports for adherence to specified
thickness and quality.
o Assembly and trial erection reports.
o Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and subsequent corrective and preventive
actions (CAPA) documentation.

 Ensure document control adherence, verifying that the latest revision of design drawings,
specifications, and procedures are being used in the shop and that obsolete documents are
promptly removed.

 Audit the final Quality Dossier/Turnover Package to ensure all required quality records,
certificates, and as-built documentation are correctly compiled, indexed, and approved for
submission to the client.
Quality Management and Reporting
 Identify and document non-conformances, findings, and observations during the audit
process, clearly articulating the risk and regulatory/specification deviation.
 Prepare detailed, accurate audit reports and present findings, recommendations for
corrective actions, and opportunities for process improvement to management and relevant
departments.
 Monitor and follow up on the timely and effective implementation of corrective actions
arising from audits.
 Support management in the preparation for third-party audits (e.g., client, regulatory
bodies, ISO certification).
 Collaborate with QC, Fabrication, and Engineering teams to clarify documentation
requirements and resolve technical discrepancies found during the audit.

Education and Experience
 Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related
technical field.
 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) or Auditing, specifically
within heavy steel structure fabrication (transmission towers, bridges, industrial structures).
 Demonstrable expertise in reading and interpreting structural/fabrication drawings and
project specifications.
Technical Skills
 Strong knowledge of international and industry fabrication codes and standards (e.g., AISC,
AWS, ISO 9001).
 Proficiency with Document Control Systems (DCS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
systems used to manage project documentation.

requirements.
