The Sales Head for a switch business drives revenue and market share. They build go-to-market strategies, lead sales teams, and manage relationships with dealers, distributors, and corporate clients. They focus on expanding into new regions and closing high-value contracts.
Role Overview
- Job Title: Head of Sales – Switch Business
- Industry: Electrical Equipment (e.g., modular switches)
- Reports To: Vice President / Business Head
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Market Expansion
- Design and execute go-to-market (GTM) plans to increase market penetration.
- Analyze competitor trends and pricing models.
- Identify new geographic territories and verticals (e.g., real estate, government, IT hubs).
2. Channel & Partner Management
- Recruit, train, and manage channel partners, dealers, and distributors.
- Develop incentive programs to boost distributor sales and engagement.
- Negotiate trade terms, pricing, and supply contracts.
3. Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and build a team of Area Sales Managers, Territory Managers, and Key Account Managers.
- Set clear KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and sales quotas.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide hands-on coaching.
4. Revenue & Forecasting
- Own the annual sales budget and manage P&L (Profit and Loss) for the switch division.
- Provide accurate sales forecasting to align with manufacturing and inventory.
- Track metrics like customer conversion, revenue, and churn.
5. Client Relations & Business Development
- Build relationships with key influencers such as architects, builders, consultants, and IT procurement heads.
- Step in to support the team with high-value, complex negotiations.
Ideal Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Degree: Master degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive sales experience.
- Track Record: Minimum 3-5 years in a senior leadership role within the electrical or IT switch industry.
Hard Skills
- Deep knowledge of B2B and B2C sales processes.
- Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Zoho).
- Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, pricing analysis).
Soft Skills
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and ability to motivate teams.
