Business Development Manager - Exports, BANGALORE
Job Description:
Business Development Manager - Exports
Position Title: Business Development Manager - Exports
Department: Business Development / Exports
Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager - Exports will own and scale AltEdge's export business development function
for precision metal components - forgings, castings, and machined parts. This is a high-ownership, high- responsibility role for someone who wants to build a category from the ground up rather than manage an existing book of business. The ideal candidate will bring a deep, hands-on understanding of precision metal components, export customer acquisition, and modern outbound/pipeline-building systems, and will be responsible for setting up
and running the entire export BD engine - from prospecting and outreach to trade shows and deal closure.
Key Responsibilities:
Export Business Development & Ownership:
• Own the end-to-end export business development charter for precision metal components (forgings, castings, machined components) - from category build-out through scale. Identify target geographies, industries, and customer segments, and set the go-to-market approach independently. Act as an internal entrepreneur responsible for pipeline, conversion, and revenue growth for exports, not just an account manager for existing relationships.
Prospecting & Pipeline Generation:
• Identify and prospect new export customers - OEMs, Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers, and distributors - across relevant industries such as automotive, industrial, infrastructure, oil & gas, and defence. Build and manage
a systematic outreach engine using AI tools, CRM, and other sales automation/enablement platforms to generate qualified leads at scale. Set up repeatable systems and processes for lead identification, outreach
cadences, follow-ups, and pipeline tracking that can scale with the team.
Customer Relationship Management:
• Understand and leverage existing customer relationships and networks in the forgings/castings/machined components export space. Manage the full sales cycle for export accounts - inquiry management, RFQ
handling, quoting, negotiation, and order closure. Build long-term relationships with international buyers, distributors, and OEMs, and represent AltEdge as a trusted long-term manufacturing partner.
Trade Shows & Market Presence:
• Plan and set up exhibitor stalls and represent AltEdge at global trade shows and industry events to build brand visibility and generate leads. Own end-to-end trade show logistics - stall design coordination,
collateral, scheduling, and post-show lead follow-up. Track industry events calendar and recommend the right shows/geographies to prioritize based on ROI.
Product, Process & Pricing Understanding:
• Develop and apply a deep understanding of forgings, castings, and machined components, along with the manufacturing processes behind them, across the industries served. Understand basic pricing and cost
structures (material, processing, freight, duties, and other landed cost components) well enough to assess feasibility and competitiveness of an opportunity before looping in pricing/costing teams. Work closely
with the costing/RFQ and sourcing teams to convert qualified opportunities into won business.
Data Management & Systems:
• Maintain and continuously update export business data - customer pipeline, outreach history, quote status, and order tracking. Set up scalable systems and processes for the export function as it grows, laying the
foundation for a larger team over time. Track performance against targets and report progress to leadership.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (Mechanical/Industrial/Metallurgical Engineering background is a plus but not mandatory).
Experience:
• 5-10+ years of experience in business development / inside sales of precision metal components - forgings, castings, and/or machined components (or closely related industrial/engineering products).
• Demonstrated experience in export business development, including identifying and developing international customers, handling RFQs/quoting, and managing the export sales cycle.
• Proven track record of setting up outreach systems and processes (using AI and other sales automation/enablement tools) to identify and engage prospect customers at scale.
• Experience setting up and managing exhibitor presence at global trade shows and industry events.
• Strong existing network of relationships and understanding of customer landscape within the forgings/castings/machined components export space is highly preferred.
Skills:
• Deep understanding of different industries and the manufacturing processes behind forgings, castings, and machined components.
• Working knowledge of basic pricing and cost feasibility - material, processing, freight, duties, and landed costs - to independently qualify and prioritize opportunities.
• Comfort with AI tools and sales automation/CRM platforms to build and run scalable outreach systems, not just manage inbound inquiries.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage international customers, distributors, and OEMs confidently.
• Self-starter mindset with high ownership - someone whose DNA is in business development (hunting and building), not restricted to managing existing accounts.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities across geographies/time zones, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience building or scaling a new export category, territory, or business line from scratch.
• Existing network of export customers, distributors, and/or OEMs in the forgings, castings, or precision machined components space.
• Exposure to setting up marketing/outreach automation stacks (CRM, AI-based prospecting tools, email/LinkedIn sequencing, etc.).
What This Role Offers:
• This is a high-ownership, high-responsibility role ideal for someone who wants to completely build and
scale a category, not just carry a sales target. The successful candidate will get significant autonomy to
shape outreach strategy, customer acquisition, and market presence, with the challenge and reward of
building the export business from the ground up - an ideal growth opportunity for someone who thrives in a
challenging, high-learning environment.
