Job Responsibilities:

The role of an Indirect Tax Head with DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) compliance in India involves overseeing all aspects of indirect taxation for a company, as well as ensuring compliance with DGFT regulations related to import and export activities.

Some of the key responsibilities of an Indirect Tax Head with DGFT compliance in India may include:

  • Managing all aspects of indirect taxation, including compliance with GST, customs duty, excise duty, and other state-level taxes.
  • Ensuring compliance with all DGFT regulations related to import and export activities, including obtaining necessary licenses and permits.
  • Developing and implementing tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities while remaining compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Providing guidance and support to other departments within the company on indirect tax and DGFT compliance matters, including procurement, sales, finance, and legal.
  • Managing indirect tax audits and assessments, including responding to queries from tax authorities and providing necessary documentation.
  • Overseeing the preparation and filing of all indirect tax returns and DGFT-related forms and documents, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and DGFT officials to ensure the company remains up to date with any changes in tax laws or DGFT regulations.
  • Conducting regular training sessions for employees on indirect tax and DGFT compliance matters to ensure compliance and minimize errors.
  • Leading the Group Indirect taxation team and ensuring flawless statutory compliances for all businesses of the group
  • Ensure compliance with GST & other Indirect Tax Laws such as filling of periodical tax returns, replies/submissions to enquiries from the tax department for all the Manufacturing Units and Corporate Office
  • Ensuring compliance with all DGFT regulations related to import and export activities, including obtaining necessary licenses and permits.
  • Standardization of process related to indirect taxation across all businesses of the group.
  • Handle engagements related to GST and other Indirect Tax Laws, Appeals, Tax
  • Restructuring, Tax advisory pertaining to GST, Customs & DGFT
  • Handle departmental audits, enquiries, and similar interventions.
  • Maintain healthy external relations to present the industry's or company's views on any IDT issue before tax authorities.
  • Develop, implement and monitor tax control and compliance through robust system and process orientation.
  • Working closely with the leadership on matters related to Tax Planning, Advisory, Compliances and Litigation along with other relevant internal/external stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast on tax legislation, changes in tax regime, evaluate implications for the company, support in decision-making, communication, and compliance.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and DGFT officials to ensure the company remains up to date with any changes in tax laws or DGFT regulations.
  • Participate in the review/drafting of the tax clauses in the contracts.
  • Perform/co-ordinate on indirect tax due diligence for potential M&A opportunities.
  • Managing and customizing ERP systems to adhere to various taxation requirements.
  • Institutionalize a strong MIS reporting on GST, Customs, DGFT matters etc.
  • Working/Liaising with internal and Statutory auditors regarding the audit requirements
  • Conducting regular training sessions for employees on indirect tax and DGFT compliance matters to ensure compliance and minimize errors.

 

Desired Profile / Criteria / Skills :

Desired Skill Set:

  • Candidate should be Preferably a CA.
  • Experience of around 15 years in manufacturing organization having export & imports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAP
