Job Description
The role will be to coordinate across departments to innovate, collaborate and direct the IT goals of the business while balancing the IT budgets and timelines. The role will be the go-to person for everything involving IT, from existing hardware/ software and network related infrastructure to identifying and developing new business solutions and efficiency improvements of existing business process. The position will report into the CBO.
Key Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility of all IT related projects from concept to completion within agreed timelines and budgets including infrastructure, new application development, enhancement of existing systems, applications and processes.
1. Planning: integrate IT planning with the overall business planning along the CBO, CFO, HR and Marketing functions.
2. Lead the team: The project manager must be a good leader who makes a team of different members of various skills and can complete their individual tasks.
3. Motivate the team-member: One of the key roles of a software project manager is to encourage team members to work properly for the successful completion of the project.
4. Tracking the progress: The project manager should keep an eye on the progress of the project.
A project manager must track whether the project is going as per plan or not. If any problem arises, then take the necessary action to solve the problem. Moreover, check whether the product is developed by maintaining correct coding standards or not.
5. Liaison: The project manager is the link between the development team and the Business Team. Project manager analysis the Business (user) requirements and convey it to the development team and keep telling the progress of the project to the end user in the business.
Moreover, the project manager checks whether the project is fulfilling the business head’s requirements or not.
6. Monitoring and reviewing: Project monitoring is a continuous process that lasts the whole time a product is being developed, during which the project manager compares actual progress and cost reports with anticipated reports as soon as possible. While most firms have a formal system in place to track progress, qualified project managers may still gain a good understanding of the project’s development by simply talking with participants.
7. Documenting project report: The project manager prepares the documentation of the project for future purposes. The reports contain detailed features of the product and various techniques. These reports help to maintain and enhance the quality of the project in the future.
8. Reporting: Reporting project status to the customer and his or her organization is the responsibility of the project manager. Additionally, they could be required to prepare brief, well- organized pieces that summarize key details from in-depth studies.
9. Stakeholder engagement: ensure IT strategies & processes support the overall business goals, explain the risks & benefits of new IT projects, oversee relationship with vendors, contractors and service providers.
Scope of work:
1. Developing IT policies, procedures and best practices, managing the software development needs, overall planning, deploying and maintaining IT systems and operations.
2. Preparation of Detailed Project Reports for each undertaken project after required brainstorming, research, and discussions.
3. Project Estimation: Project Size Estimation based on which all other estimations like cost, duration and effort are made.
a. Cost Estimation: Total expenses to develop the software product is estimated.
b. Time Estimation: The total time required to complete the project.
c. Effort Estimation: The effort needed to complete the project is estimated.
4. Scheduling: After the completion of the estimation of all the project parameters, scheduling for manpower and other resources is done.
5. Staffing: Team structure and staffing plans are made.
6. Risk Management: identify the unanticipated risks that may occur during project development risk, analyze the damage that might cause these risks, and take a risk reduction plan to cope with these risks.
7. Miscellaneous plans: making several other plans such as quality assurance plans, configuration management plans, etc.
Skills and Qualities:
o Ability to conceptualize the overall IT requirements of the organization including Hardware & Software, ERP systems, network and related infrastructure along with futuristic business enablement solutions
o Experience in coding – though not a current role requirement but adds value to manage coding teams (internal & external)
o Well networked in the tech community to bounce of ideas and quick technical hacks
o Ability to understand business requirements and articulate/ convert the same into technical requirements
o Knowledge of project estimation techniques
o Good decision-making abilities at the right time
o Previous experience managing similar type of projects (app development/ learning apps is preferred)
o Good communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders and external vendors/ partners
o As a project manager, must encourage all the team members to successfully develop the product
o He/ She must know the various type of risks that may occur and the solution to these problems
o Awareness of the latest technical developments that can be utilized for the benefit of the
organization (including make or buy decisions)
