Job Description:
A Solar Electrical Site Engineer JD involves managing on-site execution of solar PV projects, focusing on electrical aspects like cable laying, inverter/panel installation, testing (Megger, Earth Tester), ensuring quality and HSE compliance, coordinating with contractors, handling documentation (bill certification, progress reports), and liaising with authorities for grid/metering approvals, all while adhering to strict safety & quality standards (CEA/CEIG rules) for timely completion.
Job Summary
The Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end electrical engineering, design review, installation supervision, and commissioning of solar PV systems and their integration into the local power substation. This role ensures that solar energy generation, inversion, and grid synchronization adhere to strict safety standards (CEA/CEIG) and quality norms for the postal substation project.
Key Responsibilities
- Execution & Supervision: Oversee electrical installation (cabling, trenching, earthing, stringing), inverter setup, ACDB/DCDB, and panel mounting as per design.
- Quality & Safety (HSE): Implement Quality Control plans, enforce HSE guidelines, conduct safety toolbox talks, and ensure adherence to HT/LT safety protocols.
- Testing & Commissioning: Use tools (Megger, Earth Tester, Multimeter) for testing; manage commissioning of the solar plant.
- Project Management: Monitor site progress, coordinate with EPC contractors/teams, manage resources, and report to HQ.
- Documentation: Certify material receipts, verify contractor bills, maintain site records, and prepare progress reports.
- Liaison: Coordinate with DISCOMs (Distribution Companies) for net-metering, grid connectivity, and obtain necessary approvals/permits from government bodies.
- Compliance: Ensure work meets grid codes, CEA regulations, CEIG rules, and internal quality standards.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Education: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Proven experience in large-scale (MW) ground-mounted or rooftop solar project execution.
- Technical: Proficiency in PV system design, electrical drawings, string design, grid integration, and testing equipment.
- Soft Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with solar codes, regulations (CEA, CEIG), safety standards, and energy storage systems (batteries).
