Reports to: Chief Project Officer (CPO)

Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

The Project Head will lead the end-to-end execution of large-scale, utility-scale wind and solar projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and high Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) standards. This role involves managing the entire project lifecycle—from planning, land acquisition, and permitting to EPC oversight and commissioning. The Project Head will report directly to the CPO and align project outcomes with the company's strategic business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Management:
Oversee the portfolio of wind and solar projects, providing strategic direction to site leads and project managers to ensure adherence to milestones.
Lead the installation and commissioning processes, ensuring high-performance standards.
Develop comprehensive execution roadmaps aligned with budget, timeline, and quality benchmarks.
Operational Execution & EPC Oversight:
Manage Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.
Oversee land acquisition, permitting, and regulatory compliance (MNRE, CEA, ISTS/STU connectivity).
Coordinate with internal teams (Land, Procurement, Engineering, Legal) for smooth project execution.
Financial & Budget Control:
Manage project budgets, control costs, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
Review and report on project spend, including Turbine Supply Agreements (TSA) and Solar EPC contracts.
Stakeholder & Team Management:
Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, local communities, government authorities, and investors.
Build and mentor a high-performing team of project managers and site engineers.
Risk Management & Compliance:
Identify potential project risks, anticipate delays, and deploy corrective actions.
Ensure all projects comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations (QHSE).
Reporting:
Provide regular, accurate project updates and executive dashboards to the CPO.
Required Candidate Profile
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil) or related field. An MBA is desirable.

Experience:

20+ years of experience in renewable project development and execution.
Minimum 10+ years of direct experience in wind and solar energy project management.
Proven experience in managing utility-scale projects (site selection to commissioning).
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of solar PV, wind turbine technology, and hybrid systems.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Oracle Primavera).
Familiarity with Indian regulatory frameworks (MNRE, PPA, CEA).
Soft Skills:
Exceptional leadership and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
